Carola Rackete, capitana della nave Sea Watch 3, nella notte del 29 giugno 2019 in vista dell’isola di Lampedusa ha confermato la direzione da seguire.
Carola ha sentito l’obbligo morale di disobbedire alle leggi ingiuste.
La sua non è stata solo una direzione ma un esempio e un incoraggiamento per tutte e tutti coloro che lottano per una causa giusta.
Quando una legge è moralmente inaccettabile disobbedire violandola è un dovere, affermò M.K. Gandhi.
Carola ha difeso il diritto dei naufraghi forzando il blocco imposto dal governo italiano perché la sua nave trasportava 43 migranti indesiderati.
Carola ha seguito gli insegnamenti di tutte e tutti coloro che sono ispirati dalla disobbedienza civile.
Come disse Martin Luther King «Credo che esistano due tipi di leggi, quelle giuste e quelle ingiuste. Tutti noi abbiamo il dovere di obbedire alle leggi giuste e l’obbligo morale di disobbedire a quelle ingiuste. Perché non collaborare col male è un obbligo morale tanto quanto collaborare con il bene. Penso che la differenza sia che quando un uomo disobbedisce ad una legge che ritiene ingiusta, dovrebbe farlo pubblicamente, gioiosamente, amorevolmente, in modo civile e non incivile e dovrebbe farlo con l’intenzione di accettare la pena. Qualunque uomo che accetta una pena che ritiene ingiusta e rimane in prigione per risvegliare la coscienza della comunità riguardo l’ingiustizia della legge, sta esprimendo in quel momento il più alto rispetto per la legge.»
Ora Carola è stata arrestata.
Il Movimento No TAV, ispirato dagli stessi principi della disobbedienza civile, da trent’anni difende i diritti ambientali e le risorse pubbliche opponendosi alla realizzazione delle Grandi Opere Inutili e Imposte come la Torino-Lione.
Carola ha fatto la cosa giusta. Il Movimento No TAV ne chiede l’immediata liberazione.

Carola Rackete, captain of the ship Sea Watch 3, confirmed the direction to follow on the night of 29 June 2019 in view of the island of Lampedusa.
Carola felt the moral obligation to disobey the unjust laws.
Her decision was not just a direction but an example and encouragement for all those who are fighting for a just cause.
When a law is morally unacceptable, it is a duty to violate it, said M.K. Gandhi.
Carola defended the right of the castaways, by forcing the blockade imposed by the Italian government because her ship was carrying 43 unwanted migrants.
Carola followed the teachings of all those inspired by civil disobedience.
As Martin Luther King said, I believe there are two kinds of laws, the right ones and the unjust ones. We all have a duty to obey the right laws and a moral obligation to disobey the wrong ones. Because not collaborating with evil is as much a moral obligation as working together for the good. I think the difference is that when a man disobeys a law he considers unjust, he should do so publicly, joyfully, lovingly, civilly and not uncivilly and should do so with the intention of accepting punishment. Any man who accepts a penalty he considers unjust and remains in prison to awaken the community’s awareness of the injustice of the law, is then expressing the highest respect for the law.
Now Carola has been arrested.
The No TAV Movement, inspired by the same principles of civil disobedience, has been defending environmental rights and public resources for thirty years, opposing the realization of Unnecessary and Imposed Mega Projects such as the Turin-Lyon Tunnel.
Carola has done the right thing. The No TAV Movement calls for her immediate release.
