Stop Unnecessary Imposed Mega Projects!
After the successful forums 2011 in Susa Valley and 2012 in Notre-Dame-des-Landes, Stuttgart expects a large number of participants from all over Europe and beyond to meet at the Third European Forum Against Unnecessary and Imposed Mega Projects in Stuttgart at the “Wagenhallen“, from Thursday, July 25th to Monday, July 29th 2013.
The initiatives joining the Forum struggle against mega projects like the new railway line Lyon-Turn in Susa Valley, the high speed railway line between London and Birmingham, the mega airport near Nantes, the underground railway station Stuttgart 21, the nuclear power station in Neckarwestheim, the gold mines in Rosia Montana, Romania and lots of others.
Movements like Kein S21 from Germany, No TAV and No Grandi Navi from Italy, ACIPA from France, Stop HS2 from England and ATTAC Germany and France and many more, will discuss about the reasons, the backgrounds and the social contexts of mega projects which are beneficial to the private sector and to the political and financial lobbies using public money and which are everywhere imposed by violent police actions and repression of opponents.
The participants will discuss about economical, financial and social items, about sustainable energies, transports etc. and about economically and financially sustainable and useful alternatives.
The participants will exchange their experiences concerning the protest and the resistance against Unnecessary and Imposed Mega Projects in Europe and beyond.
Finally a resolution about the targets of the Forum as an international platform, its future from an environmental and social point of view and how the movements can empower each other working together will be passed.
Workshops and panel discussions are proposed by Tiziano Cardosi of No TAV Firenze, Winfried Wolf of the German alliance “Bahn für alle“, the environmental activist Cécile Lecomte, Elena Gerebizza of Re:Common, the sociologist and publicist Jutta Ditfurth, the author and critics of capitalism Tomasz Konicz and Gerd Rathgeb of “Poema” and many others.
